I. PLANT CHARACTERISTICS
Petunia resembles a miniature version of morning glory, blooming year-round, commonly grown indoors. Petunia comes in large and small flower varieties with vibrant colors including: white, purple, pink, blue, yellow, etc.
II. GROWING AND CARE TECHNIQUES
1. Temperature
Because Petunia is an herbaceous plant, it has poor cold tolerance. The most suitable temperature for Petunia to grow is 15-20°C, the minimum temperature should not go below 4°C. In summer when the temperature rises above 35°C, the plant should be moved to shade.
2. Humidity
You can mist the flower pot daily but should not spray onto the petals — only mist the stem, because Petunia petals are delicate and water droplets falling on them can cause the petals to bruise and wilt.
3. Fertilizing
Initially after repotting, you can regularly apply a thin layer of fertilizer. If the plant produces new leaves, apply a small amount of diluted nitrogen-containing fertilizer. Petunia typically blooms twice a year, in May and October. During the blooming period, apply diluted compound fertilizer every two weeks to encourage new buds.
Seasonal Care
Spring
Mist the pot and stem daily, avoid wetting the petals.
Summer
When temperature rises above 35°C, move plant to shade.
Autumn
Blooming season (October), apply compound fertilizer every 2 weeks.
Winter
Keep temperature above 4°C. Reduce watering.
Petunia is perfect for those who love small flowers and enjoy tending their plants with care and dedication.
